Alternative Fan Filter
-- Posted by: GideonX

Besides using the typical bullseye design filter or some fancy laser cut design, there isn''t much to choose from to cover up your fans. Of course, without a filter, you''d be more than likely to take a tiny chunk off the tip of your finger. So after some tinkering, we got some steel mesh and made our very own.

Here''s what we will need to get this working. Steel mesh can be found at nearly any hardware supply shop, but they usually come in thin strips known as gutter mesh. They are already bent and curved which is a pain to get straight. So, not surprisingly, our buddies at CrazyPC just so happened to carry some, called Hex Mesh, in flat 11.5" X 11.5" sizes for a tiny fee of about $7. Find yourself a pair of wire cutters or good pliers to work with the mesh. Grab a can of spray paint if you want to deviate from the standard silver mesh color.

We''re going to cut up a small square to put over our 80mm fan intake on our modified Enlight:

Lay the sheet over the hole and estimate how much you will need. Cut a snip from the sides and the bottom then cut inwards until they meet. This should result in a nice square shaped piece of mesh.

Let''s screw it in!
